Remote Access To Your Machine From Anywhere
The ability to directly access and control your computer from anywhere can be a real help. Seeing your own desktop screen and knowing just where to find your files and folders can be a great relief in many situations.
When you must get to your information and simply aren’t able to physically access it, you can use a remote desktop access program that will allow you to log onto your machine from anywhere that you have internet access. If you are on a local area network (LAN), you can instantly access your computer using a command entered into the “run” line or a local machine address entered into the internet browser address bar. This assumes that if it is within a corporate environment, that you are allowed to use this method. Your tech support should be able to give you the address or information needed.
If you are outside a LAN, you can run internet software that will find your machine ( as long as it is turned on and connected) and let you log on securely, then see and interact with your desktop as if you were there.
There are also Virtual Private Networks, where using a log on id and running a small piece of software or internet program you can accomplish the same thing, again securely and quickly gaining access to your desktop, and your files and folders.
Helpful and handy when needed, remote machine access can be a lifesaver.
